Battle for a lonely farm

For once Hepplethwaite and Erik put aside their differences and banded together to attack a small farm just a few miles from Bludfendorf. The farm itself was immediately evacuated and a hasty coalition was formed made up of anyone who was ready to fight immediately. The leader of this coalition was Klimt, Veladaunt's son who was out for revenge. Alongside him was Frank, the Road Warden, a deranged priest, an aspiring adventurer, Donald, three handgunners and eight Bludfendor Royal guard.

The two battle lines begin to advance with Erik and Hepplethwaite sidling around their right flank. Seeing this, Kilmt and Frank advanced to meet them. As soon as the three beastmen on the Slanneshi left flank were within range, the handgunners opened fire, but with little effect.

The battle lines met with Pug and Donald clashing on the far Empire right flank while the Bludfendorf Royal Guard met Hepplethwaite's beastmen head to head. The priest and the adventurer neared the beastmen but held their ground for now.

Seeing their enemies sidling along so close to them, the two Empire hero's took their chances and charged.

Klimt charged Erik and Frank charged Hepplethwaite. In retrospect, the two agreed that it would have probably been better to swarm them one at a time, but, well, one sometimes get caught up in the moment.

In a sneaky attempt to rout the beastmen's left flank, the Empire forces maneuvered  so that they could charge both the beastmen and Pug in their flanks. However, the followers of Slannesh were feeling breve (and slightly intoxicated) so they held their ground.

And what a disastrous move for the Empire indeed! The handgunners where promptly routed which left Samuel the adventurer all alone with three angry beastmen. Meanwhile Pug took a wound but was otherwise unaffected.

On the Empire left flank things were going rather mediocre. Erik was wounded once, but Frank had also taken a wound and was now very vulnerable.

Back on the Empire right flank, Samuel was butchered by the beasts.

And in the centre more Royal guard fell, but at least this time they brought a beastman down with them.

Now Klimt had also taken a wound. Things were looking down for the Empire.

Hepplethwaite promptly crushed Frank, and after than, the rest of the Empire forces either fell or fled the battlefield in disarray.

Victory belonged to the forces of Slannesh!

And, in true chaotic fashion, Hepplethwaite and Erik, who had both just received chaos gifts (Erik got +3 Strength and Hepplethwaite got Horns of Slannesh giving him +1 attack) fell to. The dispute this time was about who got first plunder rights. Turns out, with a Strength of 8, it was Erik.

Well, that's done. Now, I've painted up four more oldhammer miniatures since doing this batrep but they will have to wait until tomorrow. Because. I got another batrep planned for tomorrow.:)

Goodbye!

  1. Haven't actually read this batrep, but had a comment on the GW-package arriving: There is something special with those metal models in nice little blister packs :D I have even been toying with the idea to package some of the homemade stuff just for the joy of unpacking it. Some weird behavioural problems there, but...

Also, the Mantic-inspired stuff was truly well written. Moar!

PS) Very happy to see some LotR Clansmen there. In what shape are they? Nice enough I suppose - they seem nice (from the pics), but it is hard to tell from the other side of the world. But those moulds should be quite old by now... Perhaps the change from metal to "fail cast" back to metal meant that they made new rubber moulds... ?

    1. Well, I must agree with you on the packaging stuff. I think its my favourite part of the hobby, unboxing stuff. I sometimes even keep stuff packaged for a while, just to build up the tension!

And yes, the lotr clansmen where in good shape, except for quite a lot of flash. But they were better than fail cast, so I am relieved.

For now, I'm going to use them in oldhammer, but eventually they will join my budding Lamedon warband for lotr!
